Karkala: Christking PU College students visit goshala & old age home

Karkala, Jul 1: In an effort to instill interest in dairy farming and to foster awareness about care, love, and respect towards the elderly, the second year commerce students of Christking Pre-University College organised a study visit to a goshala and an old age home.

As part of the visit, students were taken to Sri Venkataramana Goshala located in Sheshadri Nagar, Tellaru Road, where they studied various indigenous breeds of cows and learned about dairy farming practices. To understand the lives of senior citizens and the functioning of elderly care centres, they also visited the Vatsalya Seva Trust Old Age Home, situated near Gajria Hospital on Tellaru Road.

During their visit, the students interacted with the residents of the old age home and gained insight into their life experiences and the care they receive. At the goshala, Keshava Nayak, the manager, provided detailed information about the cattle and operations. At the old age home, Sandeep, the in-charge, shared insights on the daily activities and support provided to the elderly.

The visit was coordinated under the guidance of lecturers Prakash Bhat, Umesh Bellippady, Krishnaprasad, Shahnaz, Sukanya, and Shiji, who led the students throughout the programme.
