Mangaluru, Jul 2: Carmel School, Kotekar, commemorated National Doctors’ Day on July 1 with a vibrant and heartfelt celebration held in the school auditorium, paying tribute to the unwavering dedication and noble service of doctors the real-life heroes in white coats.
The programme commenced with a soulful invocation, seeking divine blessings for all healthcare professionals, followed by a graceful welcome dance by the students.
The chief guest, Dr Anitha S Prabhu, professor of Pediatrics at Yenapoya, was warmly welcomed with a sapling and words of appreciation, symbolizing life, healing, and growth qualities deeply embedded in the medical profession.

The event was blessed with the presence of Sr Pramila, principal, Sr Julie Ann, administrator, and Sr Ashwina, coordinator, whose guidance and inspiration enriched the celebration.
Students Manasvi and Riyona highlighted the significance of the day, focusing on the life and legacy of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, whose birth and death anniversary are observed as Doctors’ Day across India. A creative tableau was staged to pay tribute to the selfless contributions of doctors, followed by an engaging skit titled ‘Kinds of Doctors’, showcasing various medical specialties and their roles in promoting health and healing.
Students Ruhali and Shreehan introduced the chief guest with warmth and admiration, outlining her impactful work in the field of child health and her dedication to nurturing young lives.
In her keynote address, Dr Anitha S Prabhu delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking message. She emphasised the noble essence of the medical profession serving society with empathy, selflessness, and dedication. She elaborated on the historical significance of Doctors’ Day, honouring Dr B C Roy a celebrated physician and statesman and applauded the government of India’s initiative to mark the day annually with a unique theme. She expressed heartfelt gratitude for being part of the Carmel School celebration.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Thrishika, acknowledging the contributions of the dignitaries, staff, students, and all those who made the event a success. The event was seamlessly compered by Theertha, Rishan, Inchara, and Charish, whose coordination and enthusiasm kept the audience engaged throughout.
The celebration was a perfect blend of learning, appreciation, and creativity, leaving the audience with a deeper respect for the medical community and their tireless efforts to serve humanity.
