Fujairah, Jul 15: Popular aviation vlogger Sam Chui took his love for flying to new heights—quite literally—by tying the knot aboard a chartered Boeing 747-400, in what he called a “Sky Wedding” that left his fans and followers awestruck.

Chui and his bride Fiona, a flight attendant, exchanged vows on July 12 mid-air after taking off from Fujairah International Airport (FJR) in the UAE. The aviation-themed wedding saw the couple soar above the Gulf of Oman with friends and family for a 95-minute flight that returned to Fujairah by 8:04 pm.

“Love is in the Air. Welcome to our 747 Sky Wedding flight. Memories of a lifetime for both of us,” Chui captioned a video on Instagram, showing the couple walking a red carpet before boarding the jet in all-white attire.

The iconic Boeing 747-400 was converted into a luxurious sky wedding venue with nearly 100 seats removed to create space for a red carpet aisle, dance floor, cake-cutting zone, and entertainment areas. The festive ambience included dancing, speeches, toasts, and onboard exploration, with many guests experiencing the 747 for the first time.

“We’re very lucky—we both work in aviation and this aircraft is the one that made us fall in love with flying. It truly felt like the golden age of aviation again,” said Chui, calling it “the best day of our lives.”

The couple's unique celebration has won the hearts of aviation fans worldwide, with social media flooded with praise and messages like “What a dream!” and “Love is really in the air.”
