Mangaluru, Jul 15: The inaugural ceremony of the Student Council for the academic year 2025–2026 commenced with a grand ceremonial procession led by the college band, accompanied by the newly elected student council members. The procession was graced by the presence of Vathika Pai, the chief guest; Sr Dr Maria Roopa AC, superior and joint secretary of St Agnes Institutions; Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal; Sr Dr Vinora AC., postgraduate coordinator; Sr Dr Roopa Rodrigues AC, vice principal; Sr Carmel Rita AC, administrator; and Malavika Shetty, convenor and head of the Department of Computer Applications.
The programme began on a solemn note with an invocation by the college choir, creating a spiritual ambience. Malavika Shetty extended a warm welcome to the gathering and introduced the chief guest, Vathika Pai—head of operations at Nirmala Travels, proprietor of Vathika International Travels, former president of KCCI, and a proud alumna of St Agnes College.










The lighting of the lamp, symbolizing enlightenment and the start of a new chapter in student leadership, followed the welcome address. The student council members were then formally introduced by Megha Shenoy and Jnana, assistant professors from the Department of Computer Applications.
The principal, Sr Dr M. Venissa AC, administered the oath of office to the council members, following which she presented them with badges engraved with their respective names and portfolios. The student council includes Jobi Thomas John, president of the postgraduate council; Ananya Madhu, president of the undergraduate council; the general secretary; eight vice presidents of the PG section; five vice presidents of the UG section; and twenty-one association secretaries.
In her inaugural address, Vathika Pai spoke about the qualities of impactful leadership and motivated the student body with her inspiring words. The vote of thanks was delivered by Preetha Tauro, assistant professor, Department of Computer Applications. The programme was efficiently compered by Anitha Peris, assistant professor, Department of Computer Applications.
