Mangaluru, Jul 15: The serene and lush green campus of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru was steeped in spiritual reverence and festive joy as it solemnly celebrated the Feast of Mary, Mother of Mount Carmel, the patroness of the institution, along with the 157th anniversary of the foundation of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation, the management of the school.

The event was hosted by the students of grade 9 C, D and E and it was a tribute to the enduring legacy of Mother Mary and the pioneering vision of Venerable Mother Veronica, who founded the Apostolic Carmel on July 16, 1868.

The programme commenced with a poised introduction by the comperes Annora, Ancel, and Aaron, followed by a meaningful prayer service and a vibrant welcome dance. Tanishq and Nathania extended a warm welcome to the guests, and the chief guest, Sr Maria Reethika A.C, provincial councillor of the Karnataka Province was introduced, and felicitated by principal Sr Melissa with a flower sapling, while other dignitaries were presented with roses.

A highlight of the event was the lyrical dance drama “The Heart of Mary: A Journey of Virtue,” portraying the Marian virtues. It concluded with a moving tribute to Venerable Mother Veronica, foundress of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation, whose unwavering faith and resilience continue to inspire generations. The soulful resonance of a melodious choral performance by the students uplifted hearts, followed by the rhythmic and spirited “Festive Footprints” dance, which brought to life the joy and vibrancy of the occasion.

In her address, Sr Maria Reethika expressed deep admiration for the students and their mentors for presenting a programme that was both vibrant and spiritually profound. She urged the students to reflect the spirit of Mother Mary by being kind, lending a helping hand to those in need, and drawing strength to face life’s darkest challenges with grace. She concluded by invoking Mother Mary’s blessings upon the entire school community.

Principal Sr Melissa extended festal greetings to the chief guest, dignitaries, staff and students, and eloquently emphasized the significance of the day, not only as a celebration of the school’s patronal feast but also as a remembrance of the 157th anniversary of the foundation day of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation. She encouraged students to reflect and practice the values showcased in the lyrical dance drama and to draw inspiration from the life of Venerable Mother Veronica.

During the prize distribution ceremony, class leaders of winning classes accompanied by their class teachers were felicitated for their outstanding performance in the creative class-wise competitions held on the occasion of the school feast. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Jesnia and Ashton.
