Abu Dhabi, Jul 19: A week after his newly opened café in Canada was targeted in a shocking act of violence, comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has finally broken his silence — not through a statement, but with a spirited Instagram post from Abu Dhabi, hinting at resilience and moving forward.
Sharma, who is currently in Abu Dhabi, shared a dashing photo of himself dressed in an embroidered black blazer against the backdrop of the iconic Burj Khalifa. The caption read, "Ready to dance. #kiskiskopyaarkaroon2," signalling that the star is back on set for the sequel to his 2015 film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon.
This update comes after Sharma's Canada-based Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, British Columbia, was attacked on July 9. In a disturbing act of terror, nine bullets were fired at the café’s window just days after its grand opening. While no injuries were reported, Khalistani terrorist Harjit Singh Laddi, linked to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and one of India’s most wanted fugitives, claimed responsibility for the attack. The shooting was allegedly prompted by remarks made on The Kapil Sharma Show that Laddi found offensive.
In response, the café’s team posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing their shock and sadness:
"We opened Kap's Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy... To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock, but we are not giving up."
They added, "Thank you for your support... Let’s stand firm against violence and ensure Kap’s Cafe remains a place of warmth and community."
Kap’s Cafe had opened its doors to the public on July 4, aiming to be a cultural and community hub. Despite the attack, both Sharma and his team have made it clear — the show, and the café, must go on.
