Indian army joins US troops in Alaska for Yudh Abhyas 2025

New Delhi, Sep 2: An Indian Army contingent has arrived at Fort Wainwright in Alaska, USA, to participate in the 21st edition of the India-US Joint Military Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2025, scheduled from September 1 to 14.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the exercise will focus on heliborne operations, mountain warfare, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), counter-UAS drills, and joint tactical manoeuvres. The Ministry of Defence stated that personnel from a battalion of the Madras Regiment are representing India, while the US side is fielding troops from the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, also known as the “Bobcats” of the Arctic Wolves Brigade Combat Team under the 11th Airborne Division.

During the two-week engagement, both armies will carry out training in rockcraft, casualty evacuation, combat medical aid, and integrated use of artillery, aviation, and electronic warfare systems. Subject-matter experts will also conduct sessions on UAS operations, counter-drone measures, information warfare, communications, and logistics.

The exercise will conclude with a series of joint tactical manoeuvres, including live-fire drills and high-altitude warfare scenarios, with emphasis on enhancing United Nations peacekeeping capabilities and multi-domain readiness.
