Hyderabad, Sep 3: K Kavitha, prominent BRS leader and daughter of party chief K Chandrashekar Rao, was suspended from the party on Thursday evening. The party cited her ‘recent behaviour and ongoing anti-party activities’ as the reason for the disciplinary action.
Kavitha has accused senior leaders Harish Rao, Telangana’s former irrigation minister, and ex-rajya sabha MP J Santosh Kumar of attempting to undermine her and pressuring her father to expel her. “I have never worked against the interests of the Telangana people… but some BRS leaders have vested interests and think only of their benefits,” she said.

She questioned the role of these leaders in alleged corruption scandals, adding, “We have to think about why the taint of corruption came to KCR. Some who are close to KCR benefited in many ways by making use of his name. Did Harish Rao, who was irrigation minister for five years, not have a major role in this?”
Kavitha said she discussed the matter with her brother, KT Rama Rao, BRS working president, stating that “golden Telangana isn’t when gold is in their houses.”
Despite her suspension, Kavitha welcomed the solidarity shown by BRS women MLAs. News of her suspension came as a surprise to her supporters, including several women leaders in the party.
Her allegations come a day after the congress-led Telangana government handed over an investigation into alleged irregularities in the kaleshwaram project to the CBI.
