Cairo, Sep 6: Egypt and Qatar on Friday issued sharp condemnations of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments suggesting the displacement of Palestinians through the Rafah crossing.

Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the remarks reflected “ongoing attempts to prolong escalation and perpetuate instability while evading accountability for Israeli violations in Gaza.” The ministry reiterated its “categorical rejection of any forcible or coercive displacement of Palestinians,” calling such practices a “blatant violation of international humanitarian law” and “war crimes that cannot be tolerated.” Cairo affirmed it would never act as a conduit for Palestinian displacement, describing the issue as a “red line.”

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also denounced Netanyahu’s statement, branding it an “extension of the occupation’s approach to violating the rights of the Palestinian people.” It stressed that collective punishment “will not succeed in forcing Palestinians to leave their land or abandon their legitimate rights.”

Both countries urged the international community to confront what they called Israel’s provocative policies to prevent further violence in the region.

The condemnation comes even as Egypt and Qatar continue their mediation efforts between Hamas and Israel, seeking to secure a ceasefire and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.
