Muzaffarpur, Sep 6: A 25-year-old MBBS doctor, Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Chandra, from Muzaffarpur, tragically died by suicide on Friday night. The incident occurred at his home in Jaitpur Colony. According to police and family members, Dr. Chandra shot himself in the head with a double-barrelled gun just days after he failed his postgraduate (PG) medical entrance examination.

Dr Chandra, who had recently started working at a private hospital, had dinner with his family before going to his room, where the incident took place. Relatives found him and immediately called the police, but he was declared dead on arrival at a local hospital.

Family members reported that Dr. Chandra had been under considerable stress since the exam results were announced approximately ten days ago. They described him as a hardworking and friendly person who had just begun his medical career.

The police, along with a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, arrived at the scene to collect evidence. Town DSP Suresh Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered. The police have seized the gun and are questioning family members and neighbors to determine the exact circumstances of the suicide. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. The preliminary investigation suggests that his failure to pass the PG exam was the primary reason for his extreme step.
