Kolkata, Sep 7: Kolkata Police have initiated a search for two men accused of gang-raping a 20-year-old woman at a birthday party. The victim filed a complaint late Saturday night, alleging the assault occurred on Friday in the Haridevpur area.

According to the police complaint, the woman, a resident of the Haridevpur area, was acquainted with the two suspects, Chandan Mallick and an individual named Deep. She had met Chandan through a mutual connection, who introduced himself as the head of a Durga Puja committee in South Kolkata. The two men reportedly promised to help the woman get involved with the committee and had been in frequent contact with her.

The victim claims that on Friday, her birthday, the two men invited her to a flat in the Regent's Park area for a celebration. After a meal, when she attempted to leave, the men allegedly locked the door and sexually assaulted her. The woman managed to escape and, after returning home, informed her family. The complaint was then filed at the Haridevpur Police Station, leading to an official FIR.

Police have begun a search for the suspects, who are currently at large.
