Panaji, Sep 19: Goa’s newly appointed Art and Culture Minister Ramesh Tawadkar on Thursday put to rest rumours about his dissatisfaction over portfolio allocation, asserting that he was “not forced” to accept the departments entrusted to him.

Speaking to the media, Tawadkar said he respects the decision of the cabinet and carries no grievance. “I come from a background where my father couldn’t even afford a bicycle and my school was 10 km away. My ideology is rooted in the grassroots, and I will never belittle the portfolios given to me,” he said.

Clarifying further, he ruled out any possibility of resignation, stressing his commitment to serve, especially as Minister for Tribal Welfare. “It is my life’s mission to give justice to the Adivasis. If I fail to perform, I am answerable to them,” Tawadkar stated.
