Mangaluru, Sep 22: The School of Vocational Studies at St Aloysius College conducted a parent–teacher meeting for all first-year BVOC students in L F Rasquinha Hall. The event witnessed the participation of approximately 250 attendees, including parents, students, and faculty members.
The programme commenced with a prayer, followed by a warm welcome. The honorable vice-chancellor, Dr Praveen Martis SJ, addressed the gathering. This was followed by an address by the registrar, Dr Ronald Nazareth, while the dean of the School of Vocational Studies, Sharolin Menezes, presented a detailed PowerPoint and video outlining the general rules, guidelines, and key information about the course.

A highlight of the event was the launch of INK, Aloysius’s first comic book collective, created by the students of BVOC Animation & Multimedia. The honorable vice-chancellor officially unveiled the book by untying the ribbon, marking a historic moment for the department. Conceptualized to celebrate storytelling and creativity, INK reflects the students’ voices, imagination, and artistic vision. This first edition was brought to life under the guidance of editor-in-chief Aldrina A M, with student editor Aadya and creative designer Praneeth Acharya leading the editorial team. INK is more than a comic book; it is a platform where narratives come alive through art, showcasing originality and creative expression.
In addition, the School of Vocational Studies inaugurated two student consultancies aimed at providing real-time industry exposure. The BVOC media consultancy cell will focus on photography, videography, and design projects, while paint space will offer a platform for students to create murals and artistic wall paintings. The consultancies were formally inaugurated by the honorable vice-chancellor, who unveiled the boards, highlighting the department’s commitment to practical learning and professional development. The consultancies will be guided by faculty in-charges Aldrina A M and Vidya Rani, ensuring quality supervision, client engagement, and mentorship. These initiatives allow students to gain hands-on experience, build confidence, and even earn while studying, bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry demands.
The programme was efficiently compered by Vidyarani, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Nitisha. Following the formal proceedings, parents had the opportunity to interact with faculty members regarding their wards’ academic performance.
The launch of INK and the inauguration of the consultancies mark a significant step in nurturing creativity, industry readiness, and professional growth among BVOC students at St Aloysius College.
