SJEC hosts national level paper presentation contest, 'Rendition 2025'

Mangaluru, Oct 18: The Department of Business Administration of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), organised its annual national level paper presentation contest, "Rendition 2025", on October 17 at the Kalam Auditorium. The event brought together participants from various institutions across the country to present innovative ideas and research in the field of management.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with the escorting of dignitaries by student coordinators, dean Joshua and Rhea D’Souza. The chief guest for the occasion was Dr Meena Juliet Monteiro, dean of PG Studies and head, PG Department of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru. Other dignitaries present included Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, director, SJEC; Dr Rio D’Souza, principal, SJEC; Dr Prakash Pinto, dean–MBA; and Acharya Chitralekha, assistant professor and event coordinator.

The ceremony began with a prayer led by Leesha and her team, followed by a welcome address by Rhea Monalisa D’Souza. The dignitaries then performed the lighting of the lamp, symbolising the illumination of knowledge.

In her address, Dr Meena Juliet Monteiro emphasised the importance of research, innovation, and integrity in management education. She encouraged students to think critically and integrate theory with practice to create meaningful societal impact.

Dr Rio D’Souza delivered an insightful address on Artificial Intelligence and Human Coevolution, highlighting the role of creativity and responsible use of emerging technologies such as ChatGPT-6. He urged students to align human intelligence with technological growth.

In his presidential remarks, Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza spoke about ethical leadership and the role of management professionals in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He encouraged students to “think beyond the balance sheet” and lead with purpose and responsibility.

The chief guest was presented with a memento as a token of appreciation.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Dean Joshua, and the inaugural session concluded with the message, “Let new ideas flow like a river, let every thought find its voice, and let knowledge be the light we carry forward.”

Following the inauguration, the paper presentation sessions began, featuring thought-provoking discussions and innovative ideas from participants.

The valedictory ceremony was held the same afternoon at the Kalam Auditorium. The event began with an introduction and a welcome address by Pratiksha Salian, followed by an address by Dr Rio D’Souza, who congratulated the organising team and participants for their enthusiasm and professionalism.

The prize distribution ceremony, conducted by Sherin Rosario and Leesha Rodrigues, recognised outstanding papers in both Postgraduate (PG) and Undergraduate (UG) categories.

Finance (PG): 1st – T. Sharanya Nayak (Manjunath Pai Memorial GFGC, Karkala); 2nd – Ankitha (Canara College, Mangaluru)

Marketing (PG): 1st – Hitha Umesh (GFGC & PG Centre, Haleyangadi); 2nd – Chethana Kamath (GFGC & PG Centre, Haleyangadi)

HR (PG): 1st – Ayesha Azhar (Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management); 2nd – Anudeep Jain (MITE, Moodbidri)

Undergraduate (UG): 1st – Jason Kunene (University First Grade College); 2nd – Rayan Elrick Lobo (St Aloysius College, Mangaluru)

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Sherin Rosario and the college anthem. "Rendition 2025" was a resounding success, showcasing SJEC’s commitment to nurturing research, creativity, and leadership among future management professionals.
