JOTA–JOTI Programme held at at Carmel School, Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Oct 23: Under the joint auspices of The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dakshina Kannada District – Mangalore City North Local Association and the Mangalore Amateur Radio Club, the JOTA–JOTI programme was held on October 18 and 19 at Carmel School Mangaluru.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Srinivas Kini, vice president of Bharath Scout and Guides and president of Mangalore City North Local Association. Sr Rosevera, the principal of the school was the chief guest of the day. Also present on the dais were Sr Dr Marie Prem D’Souza, the administrator, Prathim Kumar, district secretary; Dr Rahul, commissioner; Rohith, director of the Amateur Radio Club; and Ashwin, treasurer.

The programme was inaugurated by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp followed by a meaningful prayer service led by Carmel School guides.

Participants included Cub Bulbuls, Scouts, Guides, Rovers, and Rangers from various educational institutions of Mangaluru City North and South local associations. Around 380 students took part in the event.

Students enthusiastically participated in the JOTA–JOTI interaction, connecting with people from different places through wireless HAM radio communication. They exchanged messages to learn about each other’s cultures and experiences, gaining insights into the science of radio technology and the operation of radio equipment. The participants also learned about the importance of HAM radio in disaster communication.

It was a fun-filled learning experience where students enjoyed technology and science while making the world a smaller place by connecting with people across the globe.The two-day JOTA–JOTI programme came to a grand and successful conclusion, marking an inspiring experience for all participants.

Guide Sheetal welcomed the gathering. Guide Dhruvika proposed the vote of thanks, and Guides Lasya and Mansi compered the programme.
