New Delhi, Feb 18: It definitely does not come as a surprise when we get to hear gossip about a possible link up between Bollywood’s beauties and boys from the sports fraternity. In the past, we have seen several such relationships and flings, out of which, surprisingly, have ended up in wed lock.

It so happens in Pakistan too! Earlier it was Pakistani actress Veena Malik who was cricketer Shoaib Malik’s lady love. Also actress Humaima and cricketer Wasim Akhram were dating at a point. Now, we get to hear fresh gossip about cricketer Shoaib Akhtar. Pakistani actress Meera has herself stated that she had shared a romantic relationship with Shoaib a couple of years back.

Meera, who will soon tie the knot to a US resident from Pakistan revealed the information to the media in a recent interview. Speaking to the media, Meera revealed yet another piece of gossip. She said, "Two years ago the media spread rumours about my affair with Shoaib Akhtar, and I admit I was involved with him. However, Shoaib does not take his relationships seriously. He proposed to my cousin and me on the same day. He even hit me in front of TV staff. He is a man who wasted a year of my life and hurt me tremendously.”

The actress further said, "Shoaib and I have been friends for quite some time. There was never a formal proposal and no talk of marriage. I no longer live in my past. As far as Shoaib is concerned, he has all my prayers."

On being contacted, Shoaib completely denied the reports saying, "This is totally baseless. Why should I have proposed to her? Just don`t give any importance to this. Many women dream of marrying me."

It may not be forgotten Meera had earlier accused filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt of slapping her only to backtrack later and call him her mentor and guide. Wonder what explanation she has to Shoaib’s statement.
