KMC Hospital Attavar launches specialised keloid clinic for advanced scar treatment

Media Release

Mangaluru, Nov 4: KMC Hospital, Attavar, Mangaluru has started a comprehensive keloid clinic to give special and advanced treatment to people suffering from keloids and other problem scars.

Keloids are raised and thick scars. They form when scar tissue keeps growing beyond the edge of the original wound. Keloids can come after an injury, a surgery, pimples (acne) or even a small cut or burn on the skin. Many people think it is only a cosmetic problem, but keloids can also cause itching, pain and irritation, and can affect a person’s day-to-day life and confidence.

At the new clinic, doctors from the department of plastic & reconstructive surgery and the department of radiation therapy will work together as one team. Each patient will be examined and given a treatment plan that suits his or her condition.

One of the key benefits of the clinic is that patients do not need to be admitted or stay overnight. They can receive treatment and return home on the same day, as advised by the doctor.

The comprehensive keloid clinic will function every Wednesday and Saturday at KMC Hospital, Attavar, Mangaluru.

Through this clinic, the hospital aims to make specialised keloid care easily available to the public by bringing surgery and radiation therapy under one roof, with treatment planned for each patient’s needs.

Speaking about the new facility, Dr Chakrapani M, medical superintendent, KMC Hospital, Attavar, said that the Comprehensive Keloid Clinic shows the hospital’s continued commitment to advanced, team-based and patient-friendly healthcare. He said it is important that specialised treatment reaches people easily, with expert doctors working together and convenient care facilities.
