Nottingham, Dec 22: The much-awaited global online singing competition ‘Voice of Konkan’, organised by MUKA – Mangalorean United Konkani Association, Nottingham (UK), concluded successfully during MUKA’s Christmas Fiesta held here on Saturday.
After an intense musical journey spanning five competitive rounds, Melroy Furtado from Mangaluru emerged as the winner, bagging the title of King Voice of Konkan, while Karen Crasta from Mangaluru was crowned Queen Voice of Konkan. The first runners-up titles were secured by Royston D’Souza from Mangaluru and Riya D’Souza from Udupi.












The competition also saw impressive performances by finalists Adrian Varun Dsa, Annson Menezes, Seema Joslin D’Souza and Simone Angela Monteiro, who won appreciation from both the audience and the judges for their musical excellence.
The winners will be formally crowned as King and Queen Voice of Konkan during MUKA’s 20th anniversary celebrations scheduled to be held on April 5, 2026. In addition to the prestigious titles, they will receive cash prizes, trophies and a special opportunity to travel to the UK and perform live at the anniversary event.
Adding to the excitement, MUKA introduced a special ‘Viewer’s Choice Award’, based on the highest number of likes received on YouTube for a finalist’s performance. Royston D’Souza from Mangaluru won this popular award.
The competition was open to Mangaloreans across the globe and witnessed enthusiastic participation from contestants representing 12 countries. The event was judged by renowned music personalities from Mangaluru — Sanjay Rodrigues, Ralph Roshen Crasta and Raina Sequeira — whose expertise added immense value to the competition.
MUKA also hosted a vibrant Christmas Fiesta for its members and friends. President Godfrey Sequeira welcomed the gathering, while John Fernandes presented a summary of the ‘Voice of Konkan’ journey and expressed gratitude to all those who supported and contributed to the success of the competition. Members of the MUKA committee were present on the dais.
The Christmas Fiesta featured carol singing, cultural performances, games and competitions, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere.
The successful conclusion of ‘Voice of Konkan’ once again highlighted MUKA’s commitment to promoting Konkani culture and nurturing global Mangalorean talent.
