Panaji, Dec 30: With New Year celebrations expected to draw heavy tourist inflow and increased vehicular movement, the Goa Traffic Police have announced an extensive traffic circulation and regulation plan across major tourist destinations including Calangute-Baga, Vasco (Bogmalo), Colva, Benaulim and Canacona.

The special arrangements aim to ease congestion, ensure smooth traffic flow and minimise inconvenience to locals and visitors during New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Anticipating a surge of tourist vehicles, several restrictions have been imposed within the Calangute Village Panchayat limits. The road stretch from Bharat Junction to Tito’s Circle towards Snow Park exit via Tito’s–Baga will be declared a non-motorised zone from 3 pm to 6 am. Entry of utility vehicles such as water tankers, LPG and sewerage vehicles will be restricted between 6 am and 10 am. These measures will be effective from December 23, 2025 to January 1, 2026.

One-way traffic will be enforced on key internal routes including St Alex Church to Calangute–Baga junction, Baga–Calangute junction to Government Primary School, Government Primary School to Fat Fish junction, and Joia de Mar Resort to Piety Chapel in Baga.

Temporary four-wheeler parking facilities have been arranged at Calangute Association Football Ground, GTDC parking near Bandodkar statue, fields near Baga bridge, behind Babreshwar Temple, Nazri Resort parking area and other open grounds.

Heavy and medium tourist vehicles such as buses, mini-buses and tempos will not be allowed inside Calangute from December 21, 2025 to January 31, 2026, and will be permitted to park only at designated barren fields near Fat Fish restaurant, Porbowado and near Calangute Police Station.

The road from Bogmalo Church junction to Bogmalo Beach will be closed to all vehicles except two-wheelers from 7 pm on December 31 to 3 am on January 1. Traffic will be diverted through internal roads via Vieranagar junction, Indian Coast Guard campus and Tanisha Guest House junction.

A one-way system will be in force for vehicles moving from Bogmalo Church towards Dabolim via the Naval Museum route. Heavy and medium vehicles will be barred from entering Bogmalo Beach from Dabolim Circle.

Car parking will be available at the open ground near Bogmalo Panchayat, while two-wheelers can be parked near the beach. Parking on the main road from Dabolim junction to Bogmalo Beach Resort will be prohibited.

All cars visiting Colva Beach will be parked at the Colva Beach parking lot and the football ground near the Traffic Cell office, while two-wheelers will use designated beach parking. Four-wheelers will be restricted at La Ben Resorts junction and diverted via Betalbatim road.

Heavy and medium vehicles will not be allowed to enter Colva Beach from Colva Circle. Parking on Colva Beach, Colva Circle main road and adjoining junctions will be strictly prohibited.

A one-way traffic system will be implemented from Colva four-road junction to Gandaulim via HDFC Bank and Hotel Sagar Kinara from 2 pm on December 31 till 8 am on January 1.

Vehicles visiting Benaulim Beach will be parked at the tourism parking area, with separate parking for two-wheelers near the beach.

Several open spaces have been earmarked for temporary parking in Canacona, including areas near Sai Family Restaurant, Devabag Sports Complex, Palolem Club premises and Rayshet paddy field at Devabag, coordinated by the Canacona Municipal Council.

The Traffic Police said similar measures will be enforced across other high-footfall areas in the state. Motorists have been urged to cooperate with police personnel, follow traffic rules, avoid drunken driving and mobile phone use while driving, and park only in designated areas. Strict action will be taken against violators, officials warned.
