Mississauga, Feb 23 : Having successfully hosted various musical and cultural events in the annual Canara Kala Saanz, CANARA WORLD FOUNDATION is turning a chapter in history by introducing for the first time ever Francis Fernandes Cascia of 'Mhataro Chorbela' fame in its Canara Kala Saanz 2012. CWF is proud to announce its 8th annual Canara Kala Saanz on Saturday, May 27th 2012, at 2.00 pm. at ‘The PCSS Auditorium’, Mississauga.
CWF, Canada, has not only rejuvenated the Mangalorean culture and tradition in Canada, but is the only North American organization to have hosted musical shows of legendary artist including late Wilfy Rebimbus and his troupe, Henry D’Souza, Melwyn Peris and Claud D’Souza. Hand in hand with culture and tradition, it has also recognized the efforts of several Mangalorean artists by bestowing on them the Canara Kala Sanketh award for their contribution to Konkani, art and culture and also introduced the Canara Champion of the year award, which recognizes the efforts of Mangalorean Canadians and the scholastic efforts of the youth of the community by bestowing the Excellence in Education award. CWF was in the forefront when Catholics in Mangalore were attacked, by organizing a well attended protest in Canada and filing a petition to the Human Rights commission in Geneva.
After gaining immense popularity in several dramas including the famous drama ‘Mhataro Chorbela”, the comedy king Francis Fernandes will be acting in his newly scripted comedy skit “Sairekhechi Guspod” in Canara Kala Saanz 2012. This living legend of Konkani drama, is the recipient of several awards including the ‘Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Honorary Award”.
