Mumbai, Jul 10: Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan took to social media on Thursday to show her support for actor Rajkummar Rao, ahead of the theatrical release of his much-anticipated action thriller “Maalik.”
Sharing the film’s trailer on her Instagram Stories, Kareena wrote, “Good luck the entire team. Kill it guys… sending huge love. Watch it in cinemas tomorrow!” She also tagged Rao and other cast members in the post. While Kareena and Rajkummar have never worked together before, her gesture reflects the camaraderie and mutual respect within the film industry.
“Maalik” is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 11, 2025, and was first announced on Rajkummar Rao’s 40th birthday. The film is helmed by director Pulkit and jointly produced by Kumar Taurani’s Tips Films and Jay Shewakramani’s Northern Lights Films.

The film marks a notable transformation for Rao, known for his versatility. For his role in Maalik, the actor grew out his beard for over 80 days to achieve a raw, rugged appearance. Director Pulkit shared that this visual transformation was a key part of bringing the gritty character to life.
“We wanted Raj to embody a sense of raw power—something that’s gritty, lived-in, and unapologetically real,” said Pulkit. “He completely committed, both physically and emotionally. The look you see in the teaser is just the tip of the iceberg—there’s a lot more coming, and Raj has truly delivered something special.”
Maalik boasts a strong ensemble cast alongside Rajkummar Rao, including Manushi Chhillar, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Medha Shankr, Huma Qureshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Swanand Kirkire.
With Kareena Kapoor’s encouraging words and Rajkummar Rao’s powerful transformation, Maalik is building anticipation as it gears up for its big-screen debut.
