Chennai, Feb 7: The makers of director Ganesh Chandra’s upcoming romantic drama Pookie on Saturday unveiled an exclusive sneak peek of the film for the media, offering a glimpse into an intense relationship story rooted in contemporary realities. The film, starring Ajay Dhishan and Dhansha in the lead roles, is slated for release on February 13.
Running for about seven minutes, the preview establishes the central couple as lovers whose relationship begins to unravel over a seemingly trivial disagreement. What starts as a heated argument during a drive home quickly spirals into chaos when a reckless motorist damages their car’s side mirror and speeds away without stopping.

Already agitated, Ajay Dhishan’s character ignores his partner’s pleas to let the matter go and instead chases the offending vehicle. When he confronts the driver, the situation escalates as the man responds with arrogance rather than remorse, leading to a physical altercation in public view. As bystanders begin recording the fight on their mobile phones, the tension reaches a breaking point.
In a desperate attempt to stop the violence, Dhansha’s character slaps her partner—only to be slapped back in return. The incident becomes the final rupture in their relationship, leading to their breakup. However, the consequences deepen when videos of the altercation, captured by multiple onlookers, spread rapidly across social media, turning their private conflict into a public spectacle.
The sneak peek suggests that Pookie is not just a love story, but a relationship drama that explores how modern romance, anger, ego, and digital exposure collide in today’s world.
The film is produced by Vijay Antony under the banner of Vijay Antony Film Corporation. Ganesh Chandra, who also serves as the film’s cinematographer, previously worked as the cameraman on Vijay Antony’s early film Salim. Antony has additionally composed the music and edited Pookie, while the story has been written by Puthiya Parithi.
Alongside Ajay Dhishan and Dhansha, the film features an ensemble cast including Pandiarajan, Sunil, Lakshmi Manchu, Indumathi Manigandan, Aaditya Kathir, Vivek Prasanna, Black Pandi, Bigg Boss Sathya, M. J. Shriram, Radha, Ashwin Ram, Shiyara Sharmi, and Priyanka.
