Udupi, Mar 1: The wild animals and birds, which had been rescued, cared for, and nurtured for a number of years by Sudhindra Aithal, residing near Lord Gurunarasimha Temple in Saligrama in the taluk, were shifted on Wednesday February 29, to Pilikula Nisargadhama in Mangalore.

The forest squad, working in tandem with the local policemen had on Tuesday February 28 raided the rescue centre run by Aithal, which the officials termed as private zoo without government sanction. As a number of animals and birds found at the centre were not in the list of those which can be reared by individuals, the squad had arrested Sudhindra Aithal. Aithal was produced in a court in Kundapur and later released on bail.

Elk, porcupine, owl, monkey, sea turtle, and some other animals and birds that are in the prohibited list, were shifted to Pilikula Nisargadhama in Mangalore as per the court orders.

Uduipi district forest officer, Ganesh Rai, assistant forest officer, Prakash, Ganapati, and others, undertook this operation with the help of wildlife experts.

I know everybody here has something or the other to say, comment and advise.

All I would like to say is this is the second time such a raid has taken place at Aithal's home. It can be noticed that the man has undying love for animals. Does nobody else see that?
His love for animals and his urge to go to the aid of animals can be well adapted, like in the movie "Catch me if you can". Aithal's services can be utilised at Pilikula or any other wildlife sanctuaries, this way one can utilize his services as well as allow him to impart to be in harmony in doing what he loves.

I request the concerned officials to heed my advise or any person who is able to help Sudhindra Aithal makes a difference in all our lives in his own way.

    Thank you!

Very sad that these animals and birds are being taken away from their caretaker. When our government can rear a terrorist like Ajmal Kasab and spend crores of rupees for his security etc, then why can this kind hearted man rear and take care of injured animals and birds.

    WHAT A WASTE OF TIME
A LAW SHOULD HELP A CITIZEN
    NOT HURT HIM
GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE A ENABLER NOT CONTROLLER
    AITHAL IS NOT A SMUGGLER
    ONLY A ANIMAL LOVER
