California, Mar 14: Indian doubles specialist Yuki Bhambri and his Swedish partner Andre Goransson saw their impressive run end in the semifinals of the Indian Wells Masters in California.

The unseeded pair lost 5-7, 7-6(7), 5-10 to the French-Monégasque duo of Arthur Rinderknech and Valentin Vacherot in a closely contested semifinal decided in a match tie-break.

Bhambri and Goransson started strongly but narrowly lost the opening set. The Indo-Swedish pair fought back to claim the second set in a tight tie-break to force a decider.

However, Rinderknech and Vacherot held their nerve in the deciding tie-break to secure the victory and advance to the final.

Despite the defeat, the tournament marked a major milestone for the 33-year-old Bhambri, as it was his maiden semifinal appearance at an ATP Masters 1000 event.

Earlier in the tournament, Bhambri and Goransson had reached the last four with a 6-3, 7-6(7) win over the Austrian-Italian pair of Alexander Erler and Andrea Vavassori.

Their run also ended a two-year wait for an Indian presence in the semifinals of a Masters 1000 event since Rohan Bopanna won the title at the Miami Open in 2024.
