‘Maa Ka Sum’ brings a fresh take on mother-son relationships ahead of OTT release

Mumbai, Mar 25: On March 25 in Mumbai, details emerged about the upcoming streaming series Maa Ka Sum, a heartfelt story that delves into the unique bond between a single mother and her 19-year-old son.

The show stars Mona Singh, Mihir Ahuja, Angira Dhar, and Ranveer Brar. At its core, the series portrays a relationship built on friendship, trust, and mutual support as both characters navigate life together.

The story follows Agastya, played by Mihir Ahuja, a young maths prodigy who interprets life through numbers, graphs, and algorithms. His logical worldview extends even to his personal life, as he attempts to find a suitable partner for his mother Vinita, portrayed by Mona Singh.

Speaking about the series, Nikhil Madhok, director and head of Originals at Prime Video India, highlighted the universal appeal of relationship-driven narratives. He noted that Maa Ka Sum captures the emotional nuances, occasional conflicts, and deep understanding within a mother-son bond in a relatable and authentic manner.

Directed by Nicholas Kharkongor and produced by Babita Ashiwal under the banner of Eunoia Films, the series aims to combine warmth, humor, and life lessons.

Babita Ashiwal described the show as a relatable coming-of-age journey, where a young man tries to understand love and adulthood through logic and data, making it both engaging and emotionally resonant for audiences across age groups.

The eight-episode series is set to premiere on April 3, 2026, on Prime Video in Hindi, along with subtitles in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, making it accessible to a wider audience.
