Udupi, Apr 24: Yakshagana researcher Dr K M Raghava Nambiar has been selected for the prestigious Parthisubba Award for 2025 instituted by the Karnataka Yakshagana Academy.
Academy president Dr Tallur Shivarama Shetty announced that the award carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lac, along with a plaque, citation and garland.
The award presentation ceremony will be held on May 3 at Sri Mahakali Temple, Ambalpady.

Dr Nambiar, a noted scholar and performer, was awarded a PhD from Mangalore University for his thesis Karavali Yakshagana Himmela: Ondu Samagra Adhyayana (A Comprehensive Study of Coastal Yakshagana Himmela).
A journalist by profession, he served for a long period as sub-editor with Udayavani. He has made significant contributions to the Yakshagana field through research, writing and performances.
Well-versed in both Thenkutittu and Badagutittu traditions, Dr Nambiar has authored several prasangas and introduced innovations in himmela, costumes and stage presentation.
Recognising his rich contribution to the preservation and development of Yakshagana, the academy has chosen him for the honour.
