Mumbai, May 6: Ishaan Khatter is set to explore a new genre with his upcoming film Jugaadu, marking his first full-fledged comedy project.

The film will be directed by Palash Vaswani, known for his work on shows like Gullak. Joining Khatter as the female lead is Punjabi actress Tania, who will be making her Bollywood debut with this project.

The film’s mahurat ceremony was held in Mumbai on April 30, and the main shooting schedule is expected to begin in Punjab later this month.

Sharing the announcement on social media, Khatter expressed excitement about stepping into comedy, describing Jugaadu as a “riot of an entertainer” and his first attempt in the genre.

The ensemble cast also includes Abhishek Banerjee, Jameel Khan, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Yamini Dass, Sukhwinder Chahal, and Nirmal Rishi in key roles.

The project is being jointly produced by Ramesh Taurani, Harman Baweja, and Jaya Taurani under the banners of Tips Films and Baweja Studios. Cinematography is being handled by Rangarajan Ramabadran.

Khatter was last seen in Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Dharma Productions. The film, which also starred Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa, was shortlisted among 15 entries for the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.

With Jugaadu, Khatter aims to bring a fresh comedic outing to audiences, adding a new dimension to his filmography.
