Mapusa, May 28: A 47-year-old man from Maharashtra died after allegedly falling from a height while cleaning solar panels at a property in North Goa, raising concerns over safety standards in rooftop solar maintenance work.

Police said the incident came to light on May 26 around 7 pm after Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, informed authorities that Mahesh Dalvi, a resident of Ratnagiri in Maharashtra, had succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.

According to officials, Dalvi suffered critical injuries on May 23 after he allegedly fell while cleaning solar panels at Rajwado in Mapusa. He was initially admitted to GMC as a medico-legal case but later died during treatment.

Police have registered the case as an unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The incident has once again highlighted the risks faced by workers engaged in rooftop solar installation maintenance, particularly the lack of adequate safety gear and protective measures in the rapidly expanding sector.
