Two booked in fresh cash-for-jobs scam case

Ponda, May 31: Ponda Police have registered a fresh case in the alleged cash-for-jobs scam, booking two persons for allegedly cheating a retired police officer by promising to secure a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) post for his son.

The accused have been identified as Rupesh Sakhalkar, a resident of Khandepar, and Tommy Miranda of Aldona.

According to the complaint, the duo allegedly collected Rs 10 lakh from the retired officer in 2023 after assuring him that they would secure a government job for his son. However, the promised appointment was not provided, and the money was also not returned.

Police said both accused are reportedly employed at Goa Medical College (GMC).

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged fraud.
