Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School holds orientation programme for grade XI

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 1: Mount Carmel Central School organised an orientation programme for the students of grade XI on May 30 to welcome them and introduce them to the academic environment, values, and expectations of the school. It was aimed at helping students begin their senior secondary journey with clarity and confidence.

The programme began with a prayer service, invoking god's blessings on the new academic journey. Sr Melissa, the principal, warmly welcomed the gathering of parents, students and the keynote speaker Rajeshwari Shetty, a career counsellor and corporate trainer, and introduced her to the audience.

The dignitaries along with the representatives of grade XI students, lit the ceremonial lamp as a symbol of knowledge, wisdom, hope and enlightenment, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their educational journey.

Sr Carissima, the administrator, in her message emphasised that every individual can make a positive difference through responsible actions and service to others. She encouraged the students to have a clear vision for their future and to work with dedication, perseverance, and determination to achieve their goals. She also reminded them that while technology has transformed the world in many ways, it can never replace the power of the human mind, creativity, values and critical thinking.

The keynote speaker Rajeshwari Shetty then addressed the gathering. She remarked that the orientation programme marked not only the beginning of a new academic year but also the start of a new journey towards future careers, greater self-confidence, and personal growth. She encouraged the students to make wise choices, remain focused on their goals, and choose the right path in life to achieve success and fulfilment.

She further explained that four key factors play an important role in building a successful career: one's interests, aptitude, personality, and awareness of future demands and opportunities. She encouraged the students to understand their strengths and passions, develop their skills, and make informed career choices that align with the needs of the future.

Rajeshwari also highlighted the importance of the CBSE curriculum. She explained that the CBSE Board emphasises conceptual learning rather than rote memorisation, encouraging students to develop a deeper understanding of subjects. She noted that this approach helps learners build critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and practical application skills, preparing them for higher education and future careers.

Sr Melissa then took over the session and gave a brief introduction to the school and the management. She explained the school's motto, vision and mission statements, core values and objectives, emphasising the institution's commitment to providing holistic education and nurturing students into responsible, compassionate and competent individuals.

She provided a brief overview of the courses offered and their objectives, familiarised the students and parents with the school's infrastructure, co-curricular activities and the teaching faculty, highlighting the various opportunities available for the comprehensive development of every student.

The programme was compered by Tr Shashwathi, the class teacher of grade XI who effectively anchored the entire session. The orientation programme came to a graceful conclusion with a vote of thanks rendered by the senior secondary coordinator Tr Priyanka acknowledging the presence and contributions of the keynote speaker, management, faculty, parents and students.

The event ended on an encouraging note, inspiring the grade XI students to step forward with confidence, clarity and determination in their academic journey ahead.
