Panaji, Jun 3: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday inaugurated the renovation work of a historic fort, reiterating the state government's commitment to preserving and promoting Goa's rich cultural and historical heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Sawant said the government is undertaking several initiatives to ensure that Goa gains recognition not only for its beaches, churches and temples, but also for its historic forts and heritage landmarks.

He noted that the conservation and restoration of forts form a key part of the government's strategy to strengthen heritage tourism and showcase Goa's historical legacy to visitors from across the world.
The Chief Minister said preserving such monuments would help future generations understand and appreciate the state's rich past while creating new opportunities for tourism and local economic development.
According to Sawant, the government remains committed to protecting Goa's architectural and cultural treasures and integrating them into the state's broader tourism promotion efforts.
The restoration project is expected to enhance the fort's historical significance, improve visitor facilities and attract a larger number of domestic and international tourists.
Officials believe the initiative will further strengthen Goa's reputation as a destination known not only for its natural beauty but also for its vibrant history, culture and heritage.
