Welcoming the gathering, Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, principal, emphasized that the celebration is for the journey that made these results possible, not just the results. Drawing a parallel to the unseen fasteners of a chair, that form the most important part of it, he pointed out that the unseen hard work, sacrifices, discipline, and emotional strength are crucial to the achievements of the students. He congratulated the student achievers and encouraged them to maintain consistency in effort, remain humble and continue to strive for excellence while keeping in mind the college motto ‘Lucet et Ardet’ (Shine to Enkindle), which calls every Aloysian to make a difference in the lives of others.
The toppers of the science - Amulya S, commerce - Rachel D’Souza, and arts - Jane V Moras streams addressed the gathering, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the institution, their teachers, and parents for their constant guidance and encouragement throughout their academic journey.
The chief guest, CA Naveen Narayana, noted charted accountant, expressed that returning to his alma mater was an emotional experience and was grateful for this invitation from the college. The saying “You can leave your school, but your school will never leave you”, resonated with him. Returning to the institution reminded him that every successful journey begins somewhere, for the achievers it had started there. He remarked that the students were now entering an exciting phase in their lives where it is not necessary to have all the answers but imperative to remain curious. He advised the students to become people who can learn continuously, adapt quickly, think independently, communicate effectively and lead. He left the students with the thought that the future belongs to those who believe in their dreams and believe that the best achievements are still ahead of them.
Fr Brian Periera SJ, rector, St Aloysius institutions, congratulated the students, teachers and parents. He reminisced about his time as a student in the college and shared the challenges that he faced. He advised the students to foster self-belief, which is crucial during life as a student. Learning to look at the word ‘impossible’ as ‘I am possible’ will work towards progression, as it did for him. He laid emphasis on having the right attitude with the saying “It is not your aptitude but your attitude that will take you to higher altitudes”. He also encouraged them to become respectful, gentle and grateful people and recited a poem that highlighted the importance of being humane and celebrating inclusivity.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the felicitation of 21 state-ranking students and over 1,109 distinction holders and students scored 100 in all the optional subjects, in the presence of their proud parents and well-wishers.
The programme was graced by Fr Anthony Derrick SJ, campus minister, Muralikrishna G M, vice principal, deans, Kiran Shetty and Inas Dais.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Joshma Lobo, programme convenor, while Lilliann Benjamin efficiently compered the proceedings.
The felicitation ceremony served not only as a recognition of exceptional academic achievement but also as a celebration of perseverance, values, and aspirations that inspire young minds to become responsible citizens and future leaders.
