Beirut, Jun 15: The announcement of a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran has raised hopes in Lebanon that Israel’s military campaign in the country could soon come to an end.
Expectations grew after Pakistani mediators involved in the negotiations claimed that the agreement includes provisions aimed at ending Israel’s war in Lebanon as part of a broader regional de-escalation effort.
For many Lebanese, weary from months of conflict and instability, the prospect of a lasting ceasefire has sparked cautious optimism. However, analysts and observers remain sceptical, pointing out that similar promises of peace in the region have failed to deliver lasting results in the past.

The reported agreement comes amid ongoing tensions involving Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah movement, with Lebanon continuing to bear the impact of cross-border hostilities and military operations.
While details of the ceasefire arrangement have yet to be fully disclosed, hopes remain high that the deal could pave the way for an end to fighting and help restore stability in the region.
However, observers caution that previous ceasefire announcements have often struggled to translate into lasting peace on the ground, leaving many Lebanese wary despite the renewed optimism.
The development is being closely watched across the Middle East, with expectations that the coming days will reveal whether the agreement can bring a sustained reduction in hostilities and prevent further escalation in Lebanon and neighbouring countries.
