Doha, Jun 28: Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Qatar, a renowned Konkani community organisation, successfully conducted its 13th Annual Talent Competition for its members on June 20 at the Skills Development Centre. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 50 children, who showcased their talents in fancy dress, elocution, singing, and solo dance competitions. Adults also displayed their speaking skills in the pick & speak competition.
The evening commenced with a warm welcome by the talented emcee Freeda Seema D'Souza. Cultural sub-committee member Avina D'Mello led the gathering in a short prayer, invoking god's blessings on all the participants and praying for the success of the event.
The programme was graced by MCC president Denzil Christine Lobo, founder member & advisor Jerald D'Mello, advisors Ronald Saldanha Vivian D'Souza, Alwyn D'Souza, and Reena Castelino.





































































































































Emcee Freeda Seema D'Souza and cultural secretary Primal Pinto welcomed and introduced the judges for each competition while explaining the rules and guidelines. Ryan Renjar managed the judging sheets and coordinated the entire judging process until the final tally.
The competitions began with the fancy dress event. The judges for this category were Dorothy D'Souza, Jennifer Stephen Pinto, and Prameela Jyothi Reberro. The young participants delighted everyone with their creativity, innocence, and confident performances.
This was followed by the Konkani elocution competition for various age groups. The judges Timothy Veigas, Reena Castelino, and Naveen Melwyn D'Souza were highly impressed by the participants' fluency in Konkani, confidence, and expressive speaking skills. It was heartening to witness the younger generation proudly speaking their mother tongue and contributing to preserving the Konkani language.
The solo singing competition came next, judged by Alwyn D'Souza, Praveen Lobo, and Eva Wilma Pinto. The children captivated the audience with their melodious voices, remarkable confidence, and excellent command of the Konkani language.
The most awaited event of the evening, the Konkani solo dance competition, concluded the competitions. The judges Shalini Monthero, Suzan Pereira, and Mishal Lovely Lobo appreciated the energetic and colourful performances. The audience enthusiastically cheered every participant, making the atmosphere vibrant and memorable.
The hall was packed with proud parents, family members, and supporters who encouraged the participants throughout the evening. The overwhelming response reflected enthusiasm, creativity, and talent within the MCC community.
The judges praised the exceptional quality of the performances and commended MCC for providing a platform to nurture young talent while promoting the Konkani language and culture. As a token of appreciation, the judges were presented with mementoes by the MCC executive committee members.
Media coordinator Vanessa Saldanha proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
The smooth execution of the programme was made possible by the dedicated efforts of several volunteers. Shown Fernandes and Glen Rohan D'Sa managed the timekeeping, while Joachim D'Souza, Meena Mascarenhas, Verina Mascarenhas, and Lavita Rodrigues handled the registration desk. Backstage coordination was efficiently managed by Preema Frank, Sean Fernandes, and Sachin Monteiro.
Refreshments, snacks and overall arrangements were arranged by Melwin Pinto, Pradeep Mendonca, Shameen Lewis & Melroy Vaz while event photography was handled by Vanessa Saldanha.
Overall coordination of the programme was successfully managed by cultural secretary Primal Pinto and general secretary Renzil Jaison D'Souza.
Later in the evening, cultural secretary Primal Pinto and joint cultural secretary Sean Fernandes announced the much-awaited results in their lively and humorous style. The prizes were distributed by past president Naveen D'Souza, president Denzil Christine Lobo, vice president Ryan Renjar, and general secretary Renzil Jaison D'Souza.
Throughout the event, Freeda Seema D'Souza kept the audience entertained with her energetic compering and conducted fun spot games, with prizes awarded to the winners.
Mangalore Cricket Club congratulates all the winners and extends heartfelt appreciation to every participant, parent, judge, volunteer, sponsor, and well-wisher for making the event a grand success. The club continues to uphold its motto: "Yeya, Ek Kutam Bhandyan."
