Mangaluru: Srinivas College of Pharmacy organises anti-drug awareness programme

Mangaluru, Jul 1: Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Mangaluru, organized an awareness programme in observance of the International Day against Illicit Drug Trafficking to educate students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of leading a healthy, drug-free life on June 30.

The programme was graced by Anitha Nikkam, police sub-inspector (PSI), Kankanady Town police station, as the chief guest. In her informative and interactive session, she highlighted the growing concern of illicit drug use among young people and discussed the various social, psychological, legal, and health-related consequences associated with substance abuse. She emphasized the importance of making informed decisions, resisting peer pressure, and seeking timely help whenever required. She also addressed several challenges faced by students and encouraged them to actively contribute towards creating a drug-free society.

Narayan, head constable, was also present during the programme and supported the awareness initiative by interacting with the students.

The programme was attended by Dr Kumar Prasad, Dr Krishnananda Kamath, and Dr Viresh K Chandur, professor, who appreciated the efforts of the police department in spreading awareness and encouraged students to uphold ethical values and healthy lifestyles.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. The interactive discussions and practical insights shared by the resource persons enhanced students' understanding of the dangers of illicit drugs and reinforced the importance of prevention through awareness, education, and community support.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, the police officials, faculty members, and students for making the event a meaningful and successful awareness initiative.
