Udupi: Renowned tiger dance artist Manjunath killed in NH-66 crash near Brahmavar

Udupi, Jul 1: A renowned tiger dance artist was killed in a horrific road accident on National Highway-66 near the Rudset Crossing at Herur in Brahmavar.

The deceased has been identified as Manjunath (43), a resident of Lakshminagar, Santhekatte in Udupi.

Manjunath was returning to Udupi with four others in an Innova after attending a meeting in Goa.

The accident occurred when a private bus travelling towards Udupi reportedly braked suddenly. The Innova, which was following the bus, is said to have gone out of control before crashing into the rear of the vehicle.

Manjunath sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. The four other occupants of the car escaped with minor injuries and are reported to be out of danger.

Manjunath was a well-known tiger dance artist from the coastal region. He was widely recognised for his artistic talent in painting and decorating tiger dance performers and had earned a reputation over the years for his creative work.

A case has been registered at the Brahmavar Police Station, and further investigation is under way.
