Mangaluru, Jul 14: In a swift breakthrough following the recent arrest of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from construction sites in Kuntikana and Kodial, the Mangaluru city police have cracked down on the human trafficking network behind their entry, arresting two local handlers and detaining a key kingpin in West Bengal.
The police have booked a criminal case against three prime accused identified as Moidin Islam, Rasul Islam, and Dilwar Hussain, all hailing from West Bengal. They are accused of operating an interstate trafficking racket that smuggled Bangladeshi nationals across the international border and embedded them into domestic workforce streams under the guise of migrant laborers from northern states.

Among the accused, Moidin Islam and Dilwar Hussain were intercepted and arrested by the city police during targeted operations in Mangaluru.
Meanwhile, acting on vital leads obtained during the preliminary interrogation of the arrested individuals, Mangaluru City Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) coordinated an emergency operation with the Kolkata police. The high-level joint effort led to the successful tracking and arrest of the third accused, Rasul Islam, in Kolkata. A special team of the Mangaluru city police has already left for Kolkata to take physical custody of the accused and bring him to the city on a transit warrant.
Senior police officials stated that the gang specialized in bringing construction and industrial laborers from various northern states to coastal Karnataka, using the influx to seamlessly blend and hide undocumented Bangladeshi nationals within the labor force. The police department expects to unearth crucial details regarding fake identity documents, border-crossing routes, and potential involvement of local facilitators once the third accused is brought to Mangaluru for interrogation.
