Israeli parliament passes party funding law ahead of next election

Daijiworld Media Network – Jerusalem

Jerusalem, Jul 17: Israel's Knesset early Friday passed the party funding law, which includes a provision related to the dissolution of the 25th Knesset ahead of the next election period.
The legislation was approved in the Knesset plenum with the support of 62 lawmakers, while no members voted against it.

Ahead of the vote, Coalition Whip Ofir Katz said the coalition had completed a full four-year term and highlighted its legislative record.

"We are completing a four-year term; we have passed nine budgets and hundreds of laws," Katz said before the bill was approved.

The newly passed law regulates party funding for the upcoming election period and incorporates the clause concerning the dissolution of the current, 25th Knesset, paving the way for the next parliamentary elections under Israel's electoral framework.
