Mumbai varsity to release 'Shimunje Samsmarane', 'Nithya Ananda Vachana Samagra'

Mumbai, Jul 20: Under the auspices of the Kannada department of Mumbai University, a memorial event, 'Shimunje Samsmarane', and the release of the book 'Nithya Ananda Vachana Samagra' will be held on Saturday, July 25 at 11:30 am. The event will take place at the Kavi Kusumagraj Marathi Bhasha Bhavan in Vidyanagari, Santacruz East.

The works are authored by the late Seetharama Muddanna Shetty, popularly known by his pen name Shimunje Parari. He was a highly respected figure in Mumbai's literary circles, remembered by the masses for his multifaceted talents as a Tulu and Kannada poet, translator, playwright, teacher, dubbing artist, and actor.

Gurudevananda Swamiji and Sadhvi Matanandamayi of the Odiyoor Gurudevadatta Samsthanam will grace the occasion, officially release the works, and deliver the benedictory address.

Navodaya Kannada Seva Sangha (R) Thane president Dayananda Shetty and prominent Mumbai-based organiser Petemane Prakash Shetty will participate as chief guests. Shimunje’s wife Chandrika Shetty and daughters Archana Shetty and Aparna Shetty will be present as special invitees.

Senior professor and head of the Kannada department at Mumbai University, G N Upadhya, will deliver the introductory remarks highlighting the significance and background of Shimunje's 'Nithya Ananda Vachana'. Kannada department researcher Kala Bhagavat will present a musical rendition of the vachanas.

Assistant professor of the Kannada department, Poornima Sudhakar Shetty, will coordinate the programme. The head of the department, faculty members, and students have requested well-wishers and fans of Shimunje, literature enthusiasts, and the general public to attend in large numbers and make the event a success.
