Sedan gutted in fire on Eastern Express Highway, no injuries

Thane, Jul 25: A sedan was completely destroyed after it caught fire on the Eastern Express Highway near Kopri in Thane on Friday night, disrupting traffic towards Majiwada for nearly 45 minutes. No injuries were reported.

According to officials, the incident occurred at around 8 pm when the driver and a passenger were travelling from Vikhroli to Kolshet.

The driver noticed smoke emerging from the vehicle and immediately stopped on the highway. Both occupants got out safely before the car was engulfed in flames.

A team from the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. The burnt vehicle was later towed to the roadside to restore traffic movement.

RDMC in-charge Yasin Tadvi said the sedan was completely gutted in the blaze. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and further investigation is underway.
