Gaza City, Aug 3: At least eight people were killed in overnight Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, even as efforts to secure a ceasefire and end the ongoing conflict continued.

According to reports, one of the strikes carried out by an Israeli military helicopter hit a residential apartment, killing a husband and wife.

In a separate attack, an elderly man and a child were also killed.

The latest strikes followed Israeli attacks on Saturday in which at least seven people lost their lives. Those strikes also reportedly damaged medical supplies at a hospital, raising concerns over the impact on healthcare services in the war-ravaged enclave.

The renewed violence came shortly after Hamas announced that it had agreed to the latest stage of negotiations aimed at ending the war and securing a ceasefire.

Despite the reported progress in talks, hostilities continued overnight, with fresh casualties reported from multiple locations across Gaza.

The conflict has resulted in widespread destruction, displacement of civilians and mounting humanitarian challenges, while diplomatic efforts to reach a lasting ceasefire remain ongoing.
