Mangaluru, Sep 9: The 13th Urs of Sayyiduna Tajul Ulama Ullal Thangal (QS), who served as an exemplary leader of the Ahlu Sunnath Wal Jama’ath in Karnataka and Kerala for nearly 65 years and dedicated thousands of scholars to the community, will be held at Ettikulam in Kerala from September 11 to 13.
The Urs will feature a variety of religious and cultural programmes, said Thouseef Saadi Harekal, chairman of the Karnataka division of the Urs Reception Committee.
The three-day programme will officially commence on Friday evening, September 11, with the Makham Sharif Ziyarat and flag hoisting under the leadership of Sayyid Hamid Imbichikoya Thangal, son of Tajul Ulama.
Speaking at a press conference, Central Madanis Association general decretary Basheer Madani Kullur said several programmes have been organised as part of the Urs, with prominent Sunni scholars and leaders from Kerala and Karnataka expected to participate.
A Sanad Award Conference will be held on September 13. Students who have successfully completed the Mukhtasar course at the Tajul Ulama Education Centre will be conferred the title ‘Al Madani.’
Ulama and community leaders from Karnataka and Kerala are expected to attend the various programmes during the Urs.
Khalid Haji, Saleem Kanyadi, M M Abubakar Musliyar Montepadavu, Abbas Madani Bandadi and Nawaz Saqafi were present at the press conference.
