St Aloysius University holds 7th International Conference on Data Science, Computation and Security

Mangaluru, Oct 9: The 7th International Conference on Data Science, Computation and Security (IDSCS 2026) was inaugurated at St Aloysius (Deemed to be) University, Mangaluru, on Friday, October 9. The conference was organised in association with The Tejas Scientific Research Foundation (TTSRF), India. The inaugural ceremony was held at L F Rasquinha Hall, LCRI, VI Floor, bringing together distinguished academicians, industry professionals, researchers and participants to discuss emerging developments in data science, computation and security.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof Tad Gonsalves, professor at Sophia University, Japan, as the chief guest. In his address, he shared his perspectives on the evolving landscape of data science, computation and security. He emphasised the importance of research, innovation and academic collaboration in addressing emerging technological challenges. His address highlighted the value of international academic engagement in advancing scientific knowledge and strengthening research initiatives.

Dr Kapil Tiwari, senior manager of Software Development at Amazon was a guest of honour and addressed the gathering on the emerging field of quantum computing. He highlighted the significance of quantum computing in the advancement of computational technologies and discussed its potential to influence future developments in computing and related disciplines. His address brought an industry-oriented perspective to the conference and underscored the importance of staying informed about emerging technologies.

The conference chair and guest of honor, Dr Samiksha Shukla, dean and professor of engineering at Global Academy of Technology, Bengaluru, gave birds eye view of the conference. She addressed the gathering, contributing an academic and professional perspective to the inaugural session.

The ceremony was presided over by Col Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, vice chancellor of St Aloysius (Deemed to be) University, Mangaluru. The event also witnessed the participation of Dr Ajay Misra, joint secretary of The Tejas Scientific Research Foundation, India, and Dr D K Mishra, director and professor at Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, Indore through online mode.

The conference was convened by Dr Aarathi T and Devichandrika of the School of Engineering. The organising team comprised Dr S Ruban, dean of the School of Engineering; Dr Geetha Pinto, associate dean; and Dr Glenson Toney, assistant dean, were also present on the dais. Their collective efforts contributed to the organisation and successful conduct of the inaugural ceremony. The programme was compered by Dr Aarathi T, assistant professor, School of Engineering, St Aloysius (Deemed to be) University.

The inaugural session concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr S Ruban, dean of the School of Engineering. He expressed gratitude to the chief guest, guests of honour, university leadership, representatives of the collaborating organisation, organisers, faculty members and participants for their presence, support and contributions to the event.

IDSCS 2026 commenced with the objective of fostering academic exchange, encouraging research and promoting collaboration among scholars and professionals working in data science, computation and security. The participation of distinguished speakers from academia and industry set the stage for meaningful discussions, interdisciplinary engagement and knowledge sharing throughout the conference.

The conference will feature three distinguished invited speakers from industry and academia, bringing complementary perspectives on software development, large language models, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in education and research. Dr Kapil Tiwari, senior manager – Software Development, Amazon, Hyderabad, Telangana, India will speak on the topic: Code is Cheap, Confidence is Expensive: When Code is Free, What Do We Trust and Whom? Dr Roshan David Jathanna, associate professor, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal will speak on the topic: Inside the Black Box: How LLMs Actually Work and Dr Samiksha Shukla, professor and dean (engineering), Global Academy of Technology, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India will speak on the topic: Beyond the Prompt: AI, Integrity and Ethical Choices in Education and Research.
