Mangalore, Jun 1: "Father Muller is known across the globe for its service in the field of medicine. The academics should help the students of Father Muller to provide greater service to the patients in practical and not mere perfection in the theory of medicine," said Gulzaar Banu, mayor of Mangalore City Corporation.

She addressed the gathering after inaugurating the 21st batch of MSc nursing courses of Father Muller College of Nursing at the FMMC decennial memorial hall her on Friday June 1.

In his presidential address, Dr Patrick Rodrigues, director of FMCI advised the freshers of MSc nursing batch to do a little more apart from what the post graduates are expected to contribute. Quoting one of the formulas of successful people, he said that to excel in one's field, it is necessary to give more than what is expected.

"Go out from the institution, with the desire to serve, to take care of patients rather than to acquire the ability to lecture in the classes," he said addressing the students of MSc nursing.

Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator of FMCON introduced the chief guest Gulzar Banu to the gathering of people.

Sr Winnifred D’Souza, principal of FMCON welcomed and Irine Alvares, PG coordinator thanked everyone.

Naveen, corporator, Fr Rudlof and Fr Richard were among other dignitaries present at the inaugural.

Prior to the inaugural ceremony, a documentary was presented narrating the legacy of the legend Fr Augustus Muller and developments of the institution from the beginning to now.
