Mangalore, Aug 16 (DHNS) : Samarth Shenoy rides 2-wheeler blindfloded from Mysore to Mangalore in 11 hours battling rain, bad roads, hunger and fatigue .

It was a journey against all odds, said Samarth Shenoy who created a record with a remarkable 300 kilometre ride from Mysore to Mangalore (via Hassan) blindfolded.

Samarth started his journey at 7.10 am from Mysore Palace grounds. He drove the entire 300 kilometre stretch blindfolded on a two-wheeler 'TVS Wego' battling rain, bad roads, hunger, thirst and fatigue and arrived at Mangalore at 6.10 pm.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Shenoy said that he always wanted to do something for the country. Hence, he decided to take up the challenge of riding blindfolded.

“The journey was not easy. As you cannot see, you need to concentrate throughout. If you lose focus, then the consequences are dangerous,” he said.

Samarth was accompanied by his technical crew, who drove alongside him throughout the journey. “I had an aim of reaching Mangalore within 10 hours.

However, I was delayed by an hour as it rained very heavily. There was a point when we decided to end the journey in Uppinangady. However, we decided to complete it. Driving in the Ghats section was extremely challenging,” he says.

Samarth further added that he wanted to travel without consuming food and water. “At one point, I was very thirsty. I decided to drink water but the technical crew did not have water. So, I decided to drink water after I reach my destination,” he says.

Samarth claims that he has traveled blindfolded, three times earlier. However, it was only for about 25 kilometers. This ride was a real challenge. “I have filmed the entire journey. I hope it will enter the Limca Book of Records,” he says and adds that he dedicates the ride to India's 66th Independence day celebrations.

The blindfold tied on Shenoy’s eyes was opened by DDPI Moses Jayashekar, to mark the end his journey.

When asked, if he will take up the fete again, Samarth smiles while his team cheers saying, "Samarth go for it".

Being a winner of several international and national awards, Samarth Shenoy has been performing magic since he was 13. He has performed over 1000 shows across the globe including countries like Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy and Tanzania. He has also performed magic for education called ‘Shaikshanika jadoo’.

IS there no more rules to wear a proper helmet..? this was made to look like a such a big event going into records with no safety looked in to ... What kind of example this gives to riders in the city and all the places they passed through.. so irresponsible.. its not just making records..the organizers and the police department that gave permission should have looked into it. At least the media should look into it.. or are the rules only when the city police feel like it ?

Very Difficult nowadays to ride bike in any indian road with wide open eyes. I really cant understand how this fellow did it with his eyes blind folded. Can he do it with a suitable bucket tied to his head. I will give him a grand prize of 1 lakh rupees.

Congratulations Mr. Shenoy. Great to hear thatMangalorean has achieved it. Dont worry about those people questions the contribution to Nation, those who have questioned also did nothing but questioning others success. Those who are questioning so, havent done anything great to nation, but questioning you. I was surprised to see less comments on this success than commenting on Morning Mist stories. Somehow we have become more prone to commenting spicy Negative stuff, than positive stuff.

it is common in humanbeing getting jealous when someone does something extordinary,

if samething he would have done in foreign country he would have get more appreciation.

riding blinfolded more than 10 hours is not an easy task.

here in this forum, there are a few blind (blanked out minds) darkened minds that cannot see the truth.
They should have also joined this bike ride. All countrymen would have hailed these blindfolded riders as culturally blind riders and an asset to our Karnataka state.
Although Mallya has not anything for the nation, yet his feat should be appreciated, as his eyes had some cover and to drive that distance with traffic etc.
It is rather difficult for everyone to believe this could be done with magic

    @ Umeshchandra
It takes lots of guts for arm chair Critics like you to blabber about others doing anything for the nation. What have you done for the nation..Are u a soldier protecting our Country? at least do u have people in your family serving the army..
You people are just good for nothing..whiling away your time passing comments on others...If you are so concerned about our country then why the hell are you working in KSA.
Stay here and pay your taxes and contibute something. I really pity your sick and perverted mind. I pity the people around you.
Learn to appreciate people for whatever they have done or achieved. It may look very stupid or useless to you, but remember the hardwork an individual puts in to achieve his/her feat
    GET A LIFE MAN.... seriously

With the back-up crew, by their guidance, anyone can do it with some training. instead of wasting money doing this, do a good job by donating this money to a good cause with this special independence day.

The difference between Sarmarth and the rest is Sarmarth did ride 300 kms blind folded not caused any accidents. But some of them in India ride keeping their eyes open cause thousands of deaths on the road. Drivers physically driving on the road however, mentally somewhere else. Lesson learnt is although Sarmarth driven blind folded he concentrated. Hence, driving with concentration without distraction can save thousands of lives.

Were two coins fixed in front of the magician's eyes with duct tape? Was fresh bread dough lumped over the mentalist's upper face, sealing all cracks above and below the tape? Was thick bandana or scarf tied over the bread dough to keep it in place? If yes, all can try this 'magic' at home!
