Lhasa, Dec 18 (IANS): China and Nepal signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) Tuesday to jointly boost tourism.
The agreement was signed in Lhasa at the sixth session of the China-Nepal tourism joint coordinating committee, which was convened Monday, Xinhua reported.
The two sides agreed to promote tourism development and cooperation as well as the opening-up of ports and resumption of direct passenger land transport between Lhasa and Kathmandu.
Nepal has witnessed a steady rise in Chinese tourists since the Himalayan country became a tourism destination for Chinese citizens in 2001.
