Mangalore, Dec 28: The Indian Association of Physiotherapists on Thursday December 27 staged a protest against the gruesome Delhi gang-rape of a physiotherapy student and other rape cases reported in the country and demanded justice for the victims.

Students from various physiotherapy colleges joined the protest rally from Ambedkar circle to DC office and raised slogans against the inhuman rape on girls.

The students shouted slogans demanding capital punishment to the rapists.

Addressing the gathering, Ritu Chauhan, PG student in MV Shetty College of Physiotherapy  urged that the rapists should be given stringent punishment and they should be hanged immediately. "Justice delayed is justice denied," she said.

She also added that in the present day, women cannot walk on streets or be in buses because each second they are harassed, molested and raped.

"Why it is happening to women? Don’t we have the right to live freely in society? We have gathered here today to protest peacefully with the hope of getting justice. This should not continue in the future anywhere," she urged.

Dr Meryl demanded that the rapists should be hanged immediately and the law should be amended so that such incidents do not repeat.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Dr Umashanker Mohanthy, president of Indian Association of Physiotherapists said that the association staged protests in 19 places in various states simultaneously condemning the heinous Delhi gang-rape. He also said that the culprits of rape should be chemically castrated and hanged immediately.

A memorandum was also submitted to the DC demanding death and stringent punishment to the perpetrators of crime against women in the rarest of rare cases.

Dr U T Ifthikar Ali, academic council member of RGUHS, and Dr Mohammad Suhail, senate member of RGUHS were present during the protest.

Govt should take immediate action on every RAPE case. Find all the Rape cases kept pending/left without action across INdia. Then investigate & punish all the culprits.. Then only a woman will gain confidence & will dare to complain against all the harrasments. Govt should provide assurance that once a case of harrasment against woman is filed, it will be treated with great care & guilty will be punished severely.

Then the rapists or the perverted will also fear to touch women.. Let us repair our system... This should be implemented in every nuke & corner of the country.

It is a matter of great regret that in a civilized country like India crimes like RAPE are predominantly surfacing. Is it because the Government is not taking a serious view of this heinous crime or is it because of lethargy on the part of hierarchy?. If serious action is not taken and the perpetrators of this crime are not punished it would be difficult for a ladies to walk on the streets in India apart from traveling by public transport.

The punishment for this crime of course is in the hands of judges but it is expedient that this kind of attack on the helpless women is arrested.

Now that the victim has died it is a case of murder and the people concerned I am sure will be dealt with accordingly.

Our Central & State Governments are in a deep sleep. Most of the politicians are busy with collecting crores of rupees and keeping in a safe custody so that when they die they will take it away with them and bribe 'Yamraj'. Because, they are born and brought up by bribing one or the other so that these goons think that bribing to 'Yamraj', they will directly go to 'Swarg' without any impediments. Some politicians are also falling under the category of rapists. What we can expect from such poiticians accept antisocial elements in this country.
These rapists should not be put in jail, instead of, their parts of the body should be amputated so that in whole life they will remember what is the consequences occurred and also it is a lesson to others who commit such blunders in future.

Indian government cannot control the rapes in India. You need to install sign boards all over India so everyone is aware of the rapes. The sign board should read " Beware of Rape Dogs " Rape Zone - women entering on their own risk. Beware Beware.. Women trespassers will be raped. Jai Hind

Harsh punishment is must for such heinous crime of rape.
Besides, we should strive to our best to arrest diminishing moral values in society.
Our Daughter, Sister and Mother is not safe!
If we analyze the crime graph all over the world, crimes are more, where the punishment is harsh! Criminals are satanic, fearless for punishment and life!
Should do everything possible to improve value systems, spiritual growth, love and fear of God, education, sports, games, music, physical exercise, jobs for all.
Should discourage idle mind, encourage couple to live together, jobs near home/town to reduce migration, timely marriage, sharing responsibilities and so on!
Law and law enforcers alone can not deter such crime.
    High time for introspection!
