Jacintha Suicide Case: Australian RJs Not to be Charged

London, Dec 28 (IANS): The two Australian radio presenters whose prank call was blamed for the suicide of Mangalore-origin nurse Jacintha Saldanha are unlikely to face charges, a media report said Friday.

Saldanha, 46, was found hanging days after being tricked. She put the Australians' prank call through to pregnant Duchess Kate's hospital room where she was being treated for morning sickness.

Police in Sydney Thursday said that no request has been received from Scotland Yard to interview the radio pranksters -- Mel Greig, 30, and Michael Christian, 25.

"Nor do we expect there to be any requests," The Sun quoted Sydney police chief Nick Kaldas as saying.

British police submitted a file to the Crown Prosecution Service last week, but their Australian counterparts believe it would be difficult to find a charge that could be laid against the 2Day FM hosts.

Greig and Christian rang London's King Edward VII Hospital pretending to be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles. Saldanha was found dead three days later.

This case has been a complicated issue from every angle. This became more complicated after the media report of her earlier suicide attempts last year when she was on vacation in India. This issue made her case weak. Anyway she is no more in this world and my prayers are there for her husband and children.

I read so many stories of JS from the day she committed sucide. Now is boring to read again the same. It is better people put a stop on JS Story. It is so sad that so many people went for her funeral and the family did not open the coffin to have a glimps of her face.Any way the story is over. May her soul Rest in peace.

There is no logic in charging the RJs for Jacinta’s death. No sane individual would commit suicide for transferring a call. RJs generally play pranks. Why do we hype the death of this coward, who never thought of her children and family? Any ways RIP Jacintha.

Whether the Australian RJs are charged or not charged it does not make sense as it will not bring back the life of JS. Just for silly prank call JS should not have taken such a drastic action, keeping in mind she had a family. JS life was natural birth and she gave it an unnatural death. She had no right to do it. I am more concerned of that 23 year old girl who was raped as she is going through lot of pain because of those 6 beasts. JS did not suffer physically and mentally as she put an end to her life instantly whereas the girl "Amanat" is going through physical & mental torture. We should pray for the girl "Amanat" to get back her precious life. Time to think of JS is over.

The hoax call has nothing to do with the death of this woman, she obviously had issues way before this and was attention seeking from her 2 failed attempts previously..I wouldnt blame the DJs at all... would blame the family....inspite of knowing the history they didnt take care of Jacintha.....They shouldnt have left Jacintha to live in the hopsital quarters....there are so many private and public hospitals in bristol......
any money from the radio station should go towards suicide prevention not the family

Brits could not able to give justice to Princess Diana's mysterious accident death for going against precedent of palace.(She(Princess DIANA) has been in love with Harrods heir)Then, how can we expect justice to our deceased nurse Jacintha.I think the file herewith seemed closed.
