Los Angeles, Jan 14 (IANS): Actor-filmmaker Ben Affleck's political drama "Argo" won the best motion picture drama trophy at the 70th Golden Globe awards held here.
"Argo" was competing along with "Life of Pi","Django Unchained", "Lincoln" and "Zero Dark Thirty" for the best film trophy at the glitzy gala held here Sunday night.
"Argo", set in the 1970s, talks about CIA specialist Tony Mendez (Affleck), who concocts a risky plan to free six Americans, who took refuge at Canadian ambassador's house in Iran.
The multi-talented Affleck has not only played the lead role, but has also directed the film. A Warner Bros production, "Argo" has a unique blend of satirical humour with intense drama.
