Drew Barrymore baby-proofs home

Los Angeles, Jan 20 (IANS): Actress Drew Barrymore, who gave birth to her first child three months ago, is determined to protect daughter Olive as much as possible. She has reportedly spent $80,000 baby-proofing her home.

"She is being overprotective to the next level. But it's also so sweet. She loves the child so much," contactmusic.com quoted a source as saying.

Barrymore, who married actor Will Kopelman when she was pregnant with Olive, has had baby monitors installed in every room. The pointy edges around the house have also been softened and all electrical sockets raised.

Barrymore, 37, granddaughter of Hollywood legend John Barrymore, had a disturbed childhood, which was marked by drug and alcohol abuse. She was in rehab by the time she was 13.

But she wants Olive to have the safe and secure upbringing she never had.

"She will do everything it takes to keep Olive safe because no one did that for her when she was a kid," said the source.
